Between the blues, keyholes n’ shrouded wings,
the deepest oceans and laurel wreath springs,
the fishtails dance – the spirit world spins 
fueling the merry-go-round – still
the water rises where the tightrope swings.

     Hear, hear.
     Mayday, mayday. 
     Oh dear, it’s nearly payday!

Unlike the wealth found in diamond mines
or the leaves of maidenhair trees tumbling 
generously towards the fortunate kind,
we find ourselves cornered and crumbling
burdened with peanuts and deadlines.

Beyond the clouds, loopholes n’ clues in things
the steepest mountains, flying fisherkings^[1]
two hands joined – gesture of noble twins 
stirring the fertile ground – until
Snowball^[2] awakes and the doorbell rings.

     Dear, hear.
     Time to thank you.
     Maybe, it’s almost May Day!

Despite the health risk and harsh guidelines
or the brain drain of salty sand tumbling,
prosperities – triggered by a state of mind –
keep our fingers FenceCrossed^[3] n’ mumbling:
Shiny tails up with an abundance of absurd signs.

[1] De Fisher King’ of Visserskoning is de bewaker van de Heilige Graal in graallegenden. ‘Kingfishers’ (Alcedinidea) is de naam voor de familie van kleine, fel gekleurde vogels zoals het ijsvogeltje.
[2] Snowball (‘Sneeuwbal’) is een personage (slapend varken) uit De Tuin van Gistern* en Morgen. Bij de ingang van zijn hol hangt een bel/klok met de vier evangelisten, een gefineerde diamant en het huisnummer is 17.
